The dominant difference between the G308C100 and other G308 HMIs is the touchscreen; the touchscreen on the G308C100 terminal is smaller than the other models coming in at 7.7 inches. The touchscreens are not only different in size but also the touchscreen type itself; the touchscreen on the G308C100 model is resistive analog, while the other G308 units are simply analog. The G308 models were designed with a TFT touchscreen, whereas the G308C100 model was designed with a DSTN touchscreen.

When the G308C100 operator interface terminal uses an expansion card, how does it function with the Crimson software?

When any expansion card is used with the G308C100 module, the Crimson software will use CSMSTRSX, also known as Enhanced Modular Controller Master, allowing this model to provide extra communications facilities. The Crimson software can configure the expansion cards to the user's preferences. Depending on the expansion card and ports, specific drives must be used; one example is the CANOpen expansion card only supports drives designed to the CAN communication standard.

While other models in the G308C1/G308A2 group of HMIs come with a USB host, isolated comms, and in some panel cases, dual ethernet, the G308C100 model is not equipped with any of these features. There is no USB host, and the comms are considered non-isolated. Another downside of the G308C100 panel is that the touchscreen is smaller, coming in at 7.7" rather than more standard 8.4" for the G308 models. - AX Control Tech
